The Twins Have Arrived

Wow it has been a crazy nine days starting off with an amazing experience with my daughter on May 9.  I got to go into the Labor and Delivery room with her and Tom as she delivered Carter Paul (6 lbs 2 oz 18 3/4") and Crew Thomas (5 lbs 5 oz 18").  At first the nurse in charge wasn't going to let me in, but Brittany and I can be very persuasive and within 5 minutes I was all decked out in my hospital uniform.  I was a little nervous at first because I was thinking that I may pass out and embarrass myself, but as I got into the room and saw Brittany giggling, I decided that I would be a stalwart.  It was just the neatest thing to see those two beautiful baby boys right after they were born.  Brittany had to have a c-section as both babies were breech.  So this part was very hard for me.    As a parent, you never like to see your children in pain.
Crew spent a week in the nicu as he had a hard time regulating his body temperature.  Brittany also had to have a blood transfusion.  She was released on Sunday, but re-admitted on Monday afternoon.  Her intestines had shut down when she went into labor and had not started up after the delivery.

Finally she and Crew were released on Friday afternoon.  It has been great helping her with her family.  The best part is there are two babies this time--one for each of us.  Donn is especially proud as Carter was named after him.
Saturday night I brought the girls over to my apartment for a sleepover.  I gave them three of my shirts, and they all looked darling in their matching PJs.

While I was doing a sleepover with the girls, Brittany and Tom were home doing a photo shoot the twins.  Here are some pictures of Carter and Crew.
